FULL ACCESS LIBRARY CARD (IN-PERSON SIGNUP)

Anyone may obtain a free Winfield Public Library card by visiting the Library at 605 College.

In order to receive your permanent library card, please bring photo identification and verification of address to the library. If you are under 18 years of age, your parent or guardian must accompany you to the library to show his or her picture ID and verification of address.

E-ACCESS ONLY (ONLINE SIGN-UP)

Adults over 18 can register online for an e-access only card which provides access to the Sunflower e-Library e-books and audiobook offerings.

You may expect your library-assigned barcode to be emailed to you. Your e-access card number will work with the Sunflower eLibrary & the Libby App.

  • Kansas Driver’s License*
  • Kansas Identification Card*
  • Government issued ID Cards including Military Identification
  • Passport
  • University or School Identification

*Kansas State DL or ID is preferred, but we accept out-of-state DLs or IDs until you can obtain Kansas identification.

If your current address is not listed on your photo identification, please bring one of the following documents along with your photo ID:

  • Utility bill (phone, electric, water)
  • Official mail with a recent postmark (bank statement, insurance bill, etc.)
  • Vehicle registration
  • It is not necessary to have your card to check out materials, but you will be asked for identifying information.
  • Report lost or stolen library cards immediately.
  • It is your responsibility to let us know when you have changed your mailing address, telephone number or email address so we may contact you regarding your library account.
  • In compliance with Kansas statute, the Library may not give information about your library record to anyone but you.
  • You can check your library card online by logging in to My Account, or by calling the library during regular business hours.

Parents, please share with your child the importance of his/her library card and the responsibility it entails. A library card provides your child access to all library materials, including videos, CD-ROMs, and magazines. Your child’s library card is confidential.

In addition to those mentioned above, your Library Card entitles you to these privileges and responsibilities:

  • You may receive email, text or phone notification about any hold items ready for pick-up, and overdues. If you choose to receive notices by email & text (not phone) a courtesy reminder will notify you two days before an item is due.
  • You may lose your borrowing privileges until any overdue items are returned and fines and fees are paid.
  • You may be referred to a collection agency for recovery of long overdue items or excessive fines.

Although all patrons have access to library services, the Winfield Public Library Board of Directors reserves its right to limit some services and programs to eligible patrons within its legal service area.

Winfield Public Library cardholders may borrow circulating materials, including books, DVDs, CDs, and magazines.

The Winfield Public Library issues a library card to an individual. The card should be used only by the person to whom it has been issued. The card must be presented by the cardholder to access his or her record. The individual to whom the card is issued is responsible for the following:

  • The return, in good condition, of all materials borrowed
  • Payment of fines incurred for any overdue, damaged or lost materials
  • Reporting a lost or stolen card immediately
  • All charges on the card until it is reported lost or stolen
  • Reporting promptly any changes in name, address or phone number
  • All charges on the card as the result of lending the card or library materials to another individual
  • Parents or guardians of a library cardholder agree to be responsible for the above and to teach their child Library rules and guidelines to help in the use of his or her card
