Nurture a reader- grow a thinker

The first few years of a child’s life are critical brain development years, and healthy exposure to a number and variety of books (plus your interaction and attention reading to him or her) will give your child’s brain a HUGE BOOST, not only for school, but for his/her ENTIRE LIFETIME!

Language-rich environments develop learning pathways, thinking/problem solving skills and important communication/interaction skills. This includes talking, singing, & reading to your child regularly.

1000 Books Before Kindergarten is a free library program that encourages you to spend time reading books with your child during these critical brain development years.  Earn badges and prizes along the way.  Registration is easy!

through Beanstack (and click to enroll in 1000 Books Before Kindergarten) or if you prefer paper reading logs, no problem.  Stop by the library and register there!

Prizes for book milestones include:

  • 100 books- Free book bag
  • 500 books- Free book; and
